Despite what we may think, this cultural moment is actually a great time to be a Christian parent—and we don’t need to panic as we seek to faithfully disciple our children in the gospel.

Rather than looking around to other moms for the “right” way to parent, we can fix our eyes on Christ, who will give us all the grace we need for our specific situation and family.

Not an innate personality bent so much as a divine fruit of the Spirit, gentleness is something we receive from Christ and then pass on to our children—strength under control.

As we delight in Scripture and disciple our children in its truths, we show them the joy of putting the Word before the world.

God is always working through the faithful ministry of his Word within our homes—whether or not we see big or immediate fruit.

Sticking close to Scripture and filtering complex doctrines—like the Trinity—through the story of the gospel helps us explain them to our kids in clear and precise ways.

The gospel helps us celebrate our children’s unique personalities and giftings and grow in sanctification together, even when we seem worlds apart.

Sometimes the most effective discipleship comes not in sit-down lessons or formal teaching times but in the creative, everyday, life-on-life moments we share with our kids.

The simple truths of the gospel, presented through our children’s storybooks, can encourage, convict, and teach us as moms too.

Instead of feeling overwhelmed by all that we must teach our children, we can seek to faithfully steward each small opportunity God gives to pour truth into their hearts.

Discipling our kids alongside an unbelieving spouse can feel like an uphill battle, but we can rest in Christ’s power to save and the grace he gives to stay faithful in our pursuit of him.

Giving our kids opportunities to wrestle with the uncomfortable and the unknown can help grow their dependency on Jesus and equip them for bigger, harder trials yet to come.
