Whole 10: When You Give Grace to Everyone But Yourself

We’ve spent the past nine weeks talking about all of the ways we can pursue God’s design for us as women, but here’s what it really boils down to: mom, do you know how loved, how cherished, how valued you are by your Creator? Do you believe you’re made for more than eating PB&J leftovers at the sink and skipping a shower for days on end? (Ask us how we know!) In this final episode of the Whole mini-series, Emily and Laura remind us that we have dignity and value—not because we claim it for ourselves, but because we bear the very image of God. Even in the busyness of motherhood, we can live as women who are loved by God, redeemed in Christ, and have an important mission in his kingdom. What would it look like to honor his fullness of love for you today?

Whole: Reflection and Prayer Journal

We’ve got your wheels turning, now it’s your turn to pray through and reflect on how each week’s topic could apply to your own day-to-day life. Let this journal be your safe place to think outside of your typical bounds, get a little creative, and write bold prayers.

Friendly reminder, mom to mom: every season of motherhood looks different, especially in terms of capacity! If you’re up all night with a newborn right now, “creativity” may look completely different than if you have school-aged kiddos. Give yourself grace and know you can print this journal out again and again, season by season!

R|M Apply Questions:

  • Read the verses listed below. As you do, consider this question for each: what does God’s Word here say about his love for you?

    • Ephesians 2:10

    • Job 33:4

    • Psalm 139:14

    • Luke 12:6-7

  • Where do you tend to “put yourself last” in your current season? Maybe it’s taking the time to eat lunch, go on a walk, or create a rhythm of rest. (Note: depending on your season and schedule, we know some of these are more difficult than others!) What is one thing you can intentionally do this week to care for yourself and God’s design for you?

  • Think about an area of life that you really want to invest in, but feel guilty or hesitant to make the time for yourself. (Psst! This may be a good time to look at that list of passions and interests you created in Ep. 1, or it may be something simple like taking a Saturday morning for yourself!)

  • Spend some time in prayer that the Lord will help you see your own dignity. Trust that he longs for you to see the beauty with which he created you, and ask that you might have wisdom to honor that in God-glorifying ways today.
